Just last week, on May 1st, I was enjoying a quiet afternoon, waiting for Ant to come home from work. I heard some loud noises that didn’t seem to stop. I went out on the balcony and saw this;
It was, as you can see, a protest march for immigration rights and it was pretty exciting. Loud chanting, a make-shift maching band, and when the cops showed up and detained one of the protesters, everyone else gathered around chanting “let him go!” This all occured directly under our balcony so I really had a front row seat to all of the action. Just another reason living in New York is so unbelievably awesome.
The Absolut campaign I was working on when I got laid off is finally running. I ended up with two of the four launch print ads. The campiagn, which is getting tons of press is all about interesting ways to make the world better or more “Absolut.” Here they are for your viewing pleasure. (click to enlarge)
So as you may have noticed I haven’t “blogged” (nerd alert) about Idol in awhile. I have been generally okay with the way things were going for the last few weeks. We got rid of Haley “Devil Woman” Scaranato and, of course, Sun-gina. But tonight’s show has me a little worked up. I can’t say I was all that surprised, I saw this coming. But, that doesn’t make it hurt any less.
In a horrific turn of events Dreamboat and my future husband (if I don’t marry Anthony), Chris Richardson was voted out BEFORE Jordin Sparks. There are many reasons I do not much care for Ms. Sparks (if that even is your real name) below I have a compiled a list of a few of them.
1) Her huge horsey smile with what appears to be mouth full of chiclets
2) Her fake crying for the camera. Here’s a thought; if you can’t convey actual sadness just be respectful and stoic. Instead she is hamming it up. Like tonight when they showed her “crying” as Phil Stacey performed for the last time. She was just making a horrible fake crying face but no actual tears were falling. Jesus Jordin! Even Margaret can fake cry! The camera then panned to show the precious angel Kiki/Lakisha who was actually crying and was wiping away the salty tears. She wasn’t acting people. That was real emotion. And that is why that woman is a class act. (I’ve never used the term “class act” but it seems to fit here, I mean if Kiki isn’t a class act than I don’t know who is).
3) She sings at anti-abortion rallies. I believe in a woman’s right to choose Jordin. Stay THE F out of my uterus!
So let’s get it right next week America. Let’s get rid of Jordin so we can end with a respectable final 3. Thank you and good night. Please take a moment to enjoy my visual aids below.
So you people have to help me. Ant and I got a big kid TV last weekend. It’s a 42″ Samsung LCD (apparently to some people that means something). I am of course way more concerned about getting a piece of furniture to put it on. I can’t find anything I like or like enough. I could never be an interior decorator because I am too fickle. Here are some options this I kind of sort of ish like…
This is a Crate & Barrel number, WAY too expensive but I like the look of it.
I like this one (with white doors) from West Elm, but it only hold up to a 37″ flat screen…
So they also have something similar but it’s called a “modern storage console.” Can you put a TV on it? Are you allowed? I don’t know the rules!
So you know how these things go. The TV is sitting on the floor now and if I don’t get something soon it’ll probably sit there for another month or two. Help me! What should I do?
Not that I ever doubted it, but it’s always good to have a little first hand reminder.
Mark and I went to see Dave and Tim Reynolds at Radio City (My third concert at Radio City in the last nine months). We had great seats thanks to Markie. The show was amazing, not a surprise to me at all. And, in an exciting turn of events, Dave played my fave tune (see video). As you’ll hear, I tried to get a little footage of Mark reliving his college days but it didn’t work.
Side note: this is my first video post! I know it’s blurry and dark. But also super neat.
Anthony and I have decided to do The Out of the Darkness Walk this summer to raise money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. You start at sunset and walk all night for 20 miles until sunrise. It looks really amazing. If you want to learn more watch this, but be warned, you’ll be crying afterwards. I was.
We both have to raise $1000 to be able to walk. So help us. My Page and Anthony’s.
Well, Ant and I are officially in our new place. It’s pretty great. We still have mountains of unpacking and settling to do but here are the first two official photos. I’ll show more when things look better. But for now, here’s a taste of the kitchen…
